Artist Demonstrations

This volunteer team supports the Artist Demonstration program at the Railyard Park during Market hours by assisting with setup, takedown, and material handling, such as looms, pottery wheels, and jewelry-making tools. Volunteers will communicate with artists and the Art Demos Volunteer Chair, help answer guest questions, and provide information about the artist’s booths and products.

Ideal volunteers for this team are friendly, have good listening skills, and are comfortable working outdoors, walking, standing, and lifting items. Since volunteers help answer visitor questions about the demonstrations, people with artistic and/or arts education backgrounds who are knowledgeable about the media presented would make a great fit for this team!

Update: Thanks to our wonderful community, the need for this volunteer team is currently met. If you are interested in helping out artists during the Market, we are looking for volunteer Artist Assistants throughout Market week, especially in the afternoon and evening on Saturday July 11th, in the afternoon on Sunday July 12th, and with closing artist support Sunday evening. Here is a link to available opportunities.

• Assist in setting up and moving materials before and after an artist demonstration. 
• Communicate often with the Art Demos chair as well as the artist on needs that arise.
• Provide guests with guidance and information about the artist's booth location and the variety of items available for purchase.

TEAM NOTE: This team works primarily outdoors, tasks may involve walking, standing, talking to guests, and lifting items.

Please note: There are partners leading some of the hands-on activities at the Artist Demos circle. At times, these partners may need volunteer support during the programming, but not always because they will have a team of facilitators. Volunteers on this team will follow the lead of the Artist Demos Volunteer Chair to assist as needed.
