This team helps promote safety around the railroad tracks and the Rail Trail bike path. Crossing Guard volunteers are stationed at the train track crossing next to the Market and inform anyone nearby of incoming trains. Responsibilities include assisting people, especially those unfamiliar with local traffic rules, and preventing crossings when trains or bikers are approaching.
Team Note:
Volunteers are not expected to direct traffic but are there to alert artists, Market attendees, and volunteers of any incoming trains and advise them to wait for the next safe crossing opportunity. As this role is outside, volunteers are encouraged to bring a hat, reusable water bottle, and wear sunscreen. IFAM provides volunteers with a safety vest and flashlight to use during their shift.
